Our CEO, Liza Taylor, had the honour of joining Beijer Ref’s panel discussion on the theme “Accelerate Action.” This theme underscores the urgency of driving meaningful change to create a more inclusive and equitable workplace for women in the refrigeration and HVAC industries.
Liza was joined by Beijer Ref Head of People, Elissa Henderson; General Manager, Brett Hedge; and Marketing Manager, Elizabeth Paparo for an engaging discussion on how we can take tangible steps toward improving gender equality.
A key focus of the discussion was the ASBEC Women in Construction Pilot Program, which aims to create more leadership opportunities for women in traditionally male-dominated industries. The program provided structured mentorship, networking opportunities, and targeted professional development initiatives to support women in advancing their careers. The results were compelling—41% of women involved in the program secured leadership roles, either through promotions or participation in industry associations and initiatives.
Liza also shared insights from an industry-wide survey highlighting key challenges and opportunities for gender diversity in the sector. She emphasised the importance of leadership development, building industry networks, and fostering a culture of inclusion to ensure long-term change.
At Global IQ Group, we are proud to champion initiatives that accelerate action toward a more diverse and inclusive industry. We look forward to continuing these conversations and driving real progress for women in construction and beyond
